Having more rights holders for a work

Mario Pena

There’s now available an option to register works with more than one rights holder. Initially it has been created as a basic operation that will be developed based on the feedback we receive. In addition to complement this functionality and to add more information to the copyrighted works now you can also add files to accompany the registrations.

How does it work in a few steps (.PDF):

- You can add rights holders both in pre-registrered and registered works.

01_en_gotoworks

- Go to “My Works” and in the dropdown menu on the right you have the option “Add rights holders”

02_en_displayMenu

- Since it’s an advanced feature, the first time the system will ask you for 5 points from your account (recharging points is free of charge this year).

03_en_proservices

- A new window will open where you can write the emails of other rights holders separated by a comma in case they are more than one. You can select whether these people (or person) are authors, authors and copyright holders or holders of rights. You can also establish whether they can make changes or entries in the registration form of the work.

04_en_adding

- SafeCreative will send an email with a link to that persons and they may either accept the request, so that the work will also appear in their listings, or reject it. Although the email can be other than the one the user might have in SafeCreative, he or she may log in with the normal account and accept or reject the authorship so the work will appear in the right account.

06_en_mail_request

07_en_accept-authorship

- You can view the status of invitations you’ve sent by clicking on the icon of “rights holders” that will appear next to each work.

09_en_menuRightsHolders

10_en_situation_corights

- Optionally you can upload files to accompany the work, as a text file explaining the rights holdings, sketches for a work, physical details of a sculpture, etc.. The option appears also in the dropdown menu at the right of each registration.

10_en_attachfilesSubMenu

11_en_filesScreen

12_en_uploadedFile

- This is how we can see the public display of registration information.

13_en_finalResult

- Questions, suggestions can be sent to us through the Contact form.

New Bulk Register

Pedro Carrillo

Bulk registration has been conceived to register several works at the same time, however it can be used to register individual works step by step. Registering individual works is convenient if you are handling big files.

Important: in massive registration the work’s name will be the name of the file without file extension. Eg,  If you are going to register a text file and the title is “My Novel” you have should name it “My Novel.txt”.

1.- The first step: logging in.

2.- Once  logged in, you will see your registered works list (if you have some) and two buttons: one to register a single work and the other to Bulk Registration. Click on Bulk Register button.

3.- In Bulk Registration section you will see the Registration Templates list. This templates are useful to identify the type of work you are going to register. In you have no templates or neither one of the them adapts to your work, you can create a new one. In the case you want to use one template click on the Bulk Register button.  For this tutorial purposes we will create a new template.

4.- Fill basic and required fields in the Registration Template for the specific work type you are going to register.

5.- This is a completed template. Click on save to finish.

6.- When you save the template, it will be visible on the initial list of templates. Clicking on Bulk Register button will show a new windows. If you see a message about no possibility of verify the certificate’s authenticity click on “Trust”.

7.- In the new window you could click on the plus symbol (+) you will see on the lower left corner or drag and drop the files you want to register.

8.- As soon as you drop the files into the window the uploading to Safe Creative will begin.

9.- Once the files uploading finish you can go to the Registered Works list and see the files you just uploaded. Here you can edit or add tags, modify descriptions or change titles. Notice that the system will take as title of the work the name of the file without the extension. So if the uploaded file is “My Novel.txt” it will be registered as “My Novel”.

Now we can add Safe Creative to our web browser’s search engine. Search engines are usually on the top right corner of the web browser.

Step 1.- Go to Safe Creative

http://www.safecreative.org

Step 2.- Spread the list of search engines out, the clic on “Add Safe Creative Search”.

Step 3.- Once added we only have to select it and start searching by title, tags, etc for works registered in Safe Creative.

Tutorial for Bulk Register labs feature

Mario Pena

For those early adopters who might want to try the labs zone features, this is a description of how to improve the speed to register many files at the same time by simply dropping them from the desktop to a browser’s window. If every file has as name the title of the work, no many changes will be needed to perform during the first pre-registry period.

If you happen to have any problem, don’t hesitate to tell us about them even adding comments to this very post. Here you can download the tutorial and here you can check other license informations.

Register from your desktop

This is the first lab prototype feature: a browser window which allows you to drag and drop files from your desktop to be registered.

How it works:

1.- Select your personal information page by clicking on your user name.

2.-Select the “Enable Labs Features” checkbox and update, but first don’t forget to accept the Privacy Policy and Terms of use

3.- Now at blogs tab, also in personal information section, you can write a new blog (profile). When done, next to “view” and “edit” options you will see the “Bulk Register Profile” (see picture). By clicking on it you will get a browser window to drag and drop your file, which will be registered with the profile options (type of license, public or private register…)

4.- Accept the safecreative applet installation and…

5.- You can drag and drop the files in the new window.

Enjoy it!

Registry of posts from Blogger and WordPress

The first tools to automatically register articles from Blogger and WordPress are available in this page. These are two bookmarklets: one for Internet Explorer and the other for FireFox, which are simple to use:

Tools

1.- Add a link to the bookmark in the favourite’s bar of your navigator.

tools

2.-From the Blogger or WordPress administrator screen, when you have finished the article, press the link in the navigator.

tool

3.- Automatically it will send the title and text to a window in the Safe Creative registry. Check the details, the type of work and license, and press “Register”

That’s it. The content and the license information are now registered. In the window HTML code is available, which can be included in the post as a stamp to provide license information and an indication of where it is registered.
