What is Safe Creative?
Safe Creative is the first independent on-line world wide copyright registry, free to use, open to all and globally accessible. The service allows creators and rightholders to register their works and obtain a valid proof suitable to be used on trial, by means of a certificate of registry digitally signed. As a difference between Safe Creative and other registries, works may be registered indicating the rights concerning them, supporting the most common licenses rights of their choice.
It also allows users to easily and intuitively manage the rights of their works taking advantage of it’s semantic possibilities.
It is global and open because it can be used by any creator, from any country and for any type of work: literary , artistic or scientific works, as texts, images, 3-D objects, audio, video, software, etc.
It is independent from the various models of license rights available to creators for the protection or sharing of their works: traditional copyright, Creative Commons, GPL, etc.
Free: it is a service which is free for users.
Why Safe Creative?
Over the last few years the model for managing copyright has been revolutionized. This has been to a large extent thanks to the direct access by creators to new forms of contents dissemination. The appearance and development by the Internet community of copyleft projects, has overwhelmed the traditional concept of copyright registries, vital for the creators’ rights safeguard. This has created the need to find new, flexible and easily available formulas for digital registry.
At Safe Creative we believe that to advance through the development of these new ways of publishing, dissemination and sharing of works it is necessary to look for formulas that surpass the limits of copyright registering. These alternative formulas need not only to provide new features according to the Web 2.0 principles of communication, information sharing, interoperability and collaboration but also to protect creators and rightholders on the digital networks.

Safe Creative is a tool that provides value-added to initiatives promoting creativity and knowledge dissemination in terms of profitability, legal and technical protection and facilitating self-management of their rights in an easy, flexible, secure and intuitive way.
Safe Creative also provides creators and rightholders with:
- Security: Works registered at Safe Creative will be saved and stored in our systems applying the highest information security management procedures.
- Confidence and guarantee: Rightholders and third parties who want to use a work can download freely a digital certification of registry, including authorship and the corresponding rights of a work at a certain moment.
- Dissuasive Factor: A system which confronts attempts to infringe, plagiarize, or damage copyrights or licenses. Due to the global and digital networks, dissemination of works is now more vulnerable to such attempts.
- Self-management of creative work’s rights: In the same way that authors can distribute and disseminate their work by themselves, they can also decide with the same agility and with the same global reach their rights management.
- Semantic web technology: Safe Creative incorporates components and specifications providing information about, at least, authorship and rights in relation to a work placed on a digital network, making semantic copyright possible.
Services and their cost
Registry, certification and searching services are free and can be accessed through the Safe Creative website: www.safecreative.org. and also via API interfaces (direct registry from blogs, content management systems, desktop applications…), once incorporated into future versions. Also are open and free semantic consultation services for individuals and non massive uses.
Anyhow, Safe Creative is open to the establishment of agreements, synergies or collaborations with any platform, content provider or other services for professional usage of its solutions, which will be studied case by case and according to both parties and community interests.
