Safe Creative enables the incorporation of copyright information in the file that contains the registered work
Saragossa June 26th, 2013: Safe Creative’s copyright registration service incorporates a new functionality allowing a better reporting of copyright status of a work through metadata embedded in the file that contains the registered work.
- The new functionality is available for registered files of any of the following formats:. gif,. png., jpeg,. jpeg2000,. TIFF,. psd and pdf
- Premium account users or higher can automatically generate versions of files with this metadata information embeded in both new registrations and the already existing ones.
“This has always been one of our main objectives: the creation, through the registry, of an enduring link information between users and authors,” says Mario Pena, head of community and business development at Safe Creative.

The use of metadata in the file that contains the work being registered is particularly useful to prevent our works to be considered orphans because somebody has been unable to find the copyrights owner.
Thanks to this new Safe Creative’s service, authors can generate versions of the registered file including metadata reporting copyright information. Since this metadata information piece points to the specific works’ copyright information webpages, the provided information will always be up to date including possible changes that authors could have carried out after publication of the works regards licensing, or contact for rights management, etc..

That’s right. And if you use those metadata the original file uploaded is not touched, so they stay in Safe Creative, in the original final. But you can add metadata in a copy of the work adding a very interesting information bit, the very link of the registration information page which is unique for each work.
Some of the higher end digital SLR cameras allow you to add a Creator or Copyright Notice to the Exif metadata that is written to each image file just before it is saved from your camera to your memory card. Many Canon and Nikon models offer this in a number of their midrange or higher end digital cameras. On Nikon cameras you can enter an “Image Comment” using the controls on the back of the camera in the menu . On many Canon models, this is done using software provided by Canon, and then loading this info into your camera via a memory card.
